About Us
Hanna, Kate, Katie, and Katherine are all actively involved in Alverno Heights Academy's amazing science programs. Together we are Alverno Astro, a group dedicated to searching for pulsars. Pulsars are rapidly spinning neutron stars. A neutron is a giant star that has died and compressed itself so small that it is the equivalent of the mass of 500,000 Earths, in a star with a diameter of 12 kilometers. These are really interesting to Astrophysicists, that is why the Pulsar Search Collaboratory was created. It is a program for high school students to look at untouched data to check for pulsars. We are very lucky to have been granted this opportunity as it is very hard for students to be doing active research at our age.
